Sensory Lounger(TM) and Sensory Chair(TM)
Designed by CAPS high school students and based on Temple Grandin’s research, the CAPS Lounger/Chair meets the sensory needs of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The aesthetically pleasing and affordable lounger/chair provides deep pressure to sooth and calm the user and is designed for clinical, educational, and home use.
The Sensory Lounger and Sensory Chair Difference
There is not a sensory lounger/chair product currently in the marketplace that is stylish, soothing to the user, and affordable. Available loungers/chairs are either static bean-bag or inflatable chairs and many incorporate vibroacoustic technology. The CAPS Lounger/Chair utilizes pneumatic pump technology to apply variable pressure and doesn’t incorporate sound which can overstimulate some children. Unlike the Grandin Squeeze Machine, the CAPS Lounger/Chair is functionally designed to blend into home, educational, and therapeutic environments. Our target price point is $995 which is substantially lower than the vibroacoustic and Squeeze Machine alternatives which range in price from $1400 to $9000.
